Amish Show-n-Tell

Once upon a time, in a quilt shop far away…

These quilt tops are from 20 years ago. I had a class at the Quilt Barn (Puyallup) called “Three Amish Wall Hangings.” I used to have quite a collection of solid colored fabrics back then and I really enjoyed making quilts in the Amish style…at least until I realized that the Amish really did the Amish style best. *g*

The quilt top to the left is my favorite of all. This picture doesn’t do the colors any justice, the green large squares are shockingly dull and the pink of the border and red of the center diamond shape nearly glow in contrast.

The Amish Baskets (right) has nine different black fabrics. The Amish Stars quilt (bottom left) is the only finished piece I have left, I sold many miniature Amish style quilts. It is quite faded and worn in areas from being on display for so many years.

Many thanks to my son Shane for holding the quilts while I took the pictures. I was cutting into his Summertime Naptime to ask him to do this little favor for me. I really appreciate his forbearance.
