Three Spicey Girls, a Show ‘n Tell & Joey
The Spice Girls Quilts of Valor Corp was a bit shorthanded yesterday, just Linda, Robin and I. But we accomplished what we needed to accomplish, nonetheless.
Linda has embroidered two beautiful labels and was able work on her quilt between customers. Robin has started a beautiful quilt top, it’s made from 2″ squares of red, white and blue scrap fabrics. And I finished up (finally!) the squares for the Comfort Quilt for our Family Readiness Group coordinator’s granddaughter (shown right). I’ll post a better picture and close ups (including Linda’s label) after the quilting is finished.
Heather stopped by the shop and brought two quilts for show and tell.
The pink, red and brown beauty is from a Moda jelly roll. Gorgeous! The Log Cabin Star style of quilt is one of my all-time favorites. Heather is a major talent in the making and has a wonderfully rhythmic design sense.
I’m astonished at this next quilt of Heather’s, the Kaleidoscope Sampler from last Saturday’s class. Absolutely stunning!
The handsome gentledog to the left is our dear Joey, the greatest shop dog to ever. Honestly, sometimes Linda, Sugar ‘n Spice, must wonder if people stop by to see Joey and just pick up a few yards of her best cotton as an excuse to get to hang out with the sweet little guy.
“It is a wholesome and necessary thing for us to turn again to the earth and in the contemplation of her beauties to know of wonder and humility.” -Rachel Carson
