Two Feasts, a Fashion Show & a House Blessing

Feast No. 1

19men1Saturday afternoon I attended the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church 19phyllisWomen’s Luncheon and Vintage Fashion Show. To the right is our very stylish Phyllis, one of my favorite shots of the day.

The St. Tim’s Men’s Club sent us a handful of handsome (and somewhat vintage, but still handsome) men to serve as waitstaff and kitchen help. 19vivianThe women teasingly suggested that they attire themselves more in the Chippendale style of dress (the men, not the furniture), but, alas, it was not to be so.

My favorite costume has to have been Vivian’s (shown left), I’m sure you would agree. Vivian always wears her hats so very well, this hat is no exception. Though I think if she wore this one to church we would have to clear an area around her to avoid injuring anyone. *g*

19fence-1Great job organizing the luncheon and show, Deanna! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Feast No. 2 with Sonja

Sunday afternoon we all went over to Sonja’s new home for a house blessing. Look at that fence line, it’s immaculate!

We all squeezed into her house (so many friends!)—on the porch, into the 19porch1living room, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms, blessing, praying and celebrating. The house blessing started with this prayer:

“Almighty and everlasting God, grant to this home the grace of your presence, that you may be known to be the inhabitant of this dwelling, and the defender of this household…”

And finished with:dsc02818

“May God, by the power that turned water into wine at the wedding feast at Canna, transform your lives and make glad your hearts, and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you for ever. Amen.”

And then, like those guests at the wedding feast of Canna, our hearts were glad and our glasses and plates were filled. Amen!

TODAY’S EXERCISE: 2.96 miles, up Thistlehill and down twice, over hill and dale and around pond and back.

  1. What a fun weekend! I had a vestry meeting instead of a party… We should have food at our meetings, then it would feel more festive!

  2. Yes, it was a fun weekend. The luncheon/fashion show on Saturday and then church on Sunday followed by brunch and then on in the afternoon to the house blessing. It reminded me of growing up in a small town in the south where most of the social events were church related. But guess what “Bug” we had a vestry meeting in between the brunch and house blessing!

  3. Delicious! I’m talking about everything, plus the food! Love the vintage. You all did justice to each event.

  4. Kim, What a wonderful site you have! You are blessed with great talents. Your coverage of the luncheon and fashion show tell the story of a very fun time. The house blessing was inspiring, the food and company very enjoyable. It was a big weekend.
