Old Lady Finds New Zest for Life, Elk Visit & Life is Good, Mrs. Goodneedle

25Emma_JessieNo, I’m not the old lady, JessieDog is the old lady.

JessieDog is so in love with my granddaughter Emma. “The sun rises and sets in her eyes,” as my grandmother would have said. Since Emma arrived on the scene, JessieDog has even taken to playing with toys again, something I thought she had long since forgotten.

The elk herd slept out in the 25elkold orchard next to the house last night. The call of the bull elk is a lonely, eerie sound, but so beautiful and comforting at the same time. Dad says there is a 5-point bull in the herd. I’ve already had one person knocking on my door wanting to know if they can come shoot him. What do you think my answer was?

All in all, Life is Good, as Mrs. Goodneedle says. Hey! It was her birthday the other day, go over there and sing her a birthday song or do a birthday dance for her, will ya? (Actually, a simple “Happy Birthday!” will be just fine…
