It’s all Work, Work, Work! (Shopkeeping)Work, (School)Work, (Quilting)Work!

After spending all day yesterday at the Sugar n’ Spice, surrounded by Quilting Goodness & Inspiration, I woke up at 3 am this morning with quilting on my mind. I had three pin-basted quilts, ready to go under the needle, and after a 4-month dry spell, I was ready to quilt!

I made myself stay in bed until 4 am — listening to a PRI podcast interview with the makers of the PBS documentary “Buddha” — then jumped out of bed, made coffee, fed and potted dogs, read blogs, email and facebook posts, wrote two posts, transferred pictures, edited, woke The Boy and was ready to head into my studio (O how I love saying “my studio!”) — the phone rings. Time for ME to go to school today to work!

Yay (I need the money)! Boo (I wanted to quilt the day away)! But, yay (I really need the money)! And there was snow and rain and hail and sunshine and then more snow and more hail and more sunshine. Isn’t this April? Spring??

One of the best things about working at school is that I get home by 3:30 — and into the studio by 3:45. An hour or so later, my 24″ square table topper was quilted and bound and put to work.

This little kaleidoscope table topper was put together with the leftovers from the two Roundabout Road quilts (one blue, one red) that I made last Fall. I am convinced that you canNOT make an ugly kaleidoscope quilt.

Hey, have you entered to win the Christmas on the Roundabout Road quilt yet? The winner will be drawn next week, hurry!

  1. Yeah, Kim! Sounds wonderful and energetic! And I love the photo of your prayer place (I assume).

  2. The frenetic pace of this post plumb wore me out! And my favorite part is the potted dogs….. 🙂

  3. Oooh, likin’ that table-topper. I need to learn to do kaleidoscope quilts!

  4. Fabulous! All of them! It didn’t take you long to get back into the swing! ~karen
